THE SCIENCE OF DATALOGY--LETTER TO THE EDITOR (1966)

Comm. ACM 9(7): 485, 1966.

Commentary 1990

The rejection of the term 'computer science' in the Danish environment happened when a local society was formed. This became Dansk Selskab for Datalogi. Three years later the first chair in the field at Copenhagen University became the Professor i Datalogi. In 1990 at a working conference at Providence, Rhode Island, the educators from the US displayed a widespread dissatisfaction with the designation 'computer science', in the direction of 'computing'.
